THE MOTTO OF THE ORDER
For His Sake....I am one, but I am one.
I cannot do everything but I can do something.
What I can do, I ought to do
What I ought to do, by the Grace of God I will
Lord, what will you have me do?
WHAT IS THE ORDER OF THE DAUGHTERS OF THE KING?
The Order of the Daughters of the King is an international religious order for Episcopal women. Its purpose is to bring others into a living, loving relationship with Jesus, our Lord and Savior and to help strengthen the spiritual life of our parishes and missions. The requirements for membership in the Order are that a woman be a communicant in the Episcopal Church, be willing to participate in the preparation period and vow to accept the Rule of Life.
A study of the Order, its Rule, objectives and methods will provide a solid foundation for every Daughter and chapter to build upon. The woman who is well informed about the Order and her role as a member is in the best position to fulfill the commitment and responsibility involved in being a Daughter of the King.
The study is designed to be completed in eight weekly sessions. It offers insight into the basic philosophy and practices of the Order. It is not a course in skills and techniques. Rather it is intended to prepare the prospective Daughter to come to the date of admission with an understanding of the Order, paraphrasing the Book of Common Prayer,-"not unadvisedly or lightly, but reverently, deliberately and according to the purpose for which the Order was established."
Meetings are held on the 4th Sunday of the month following the 11am service. Please bring a sack lunch; cookies and coffee will be provided.
